NBA Betting: Golden State Warriors at Washington Wizards
There’s plenty of NBA action on tap for Sunday afternoon and we’ll focus on a non-conference affair between the Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors. Both teams are looking for a playoff spot this year. The Warriors are currently in 6th place in a hotly contested Western Conference just five games back of first place Oklahoma City. The Wizards don’t have a particularly impressive W/L record but are in the mix for the postseason in a very weak Eastern Conference. Washington is in fifth place in the East but are 11 games back of conference leading Indiana.
Golden State has been in good form lately having won eight straight and nine of their last ten games. They’re 4-0 SU/2-2 ATS on their current East Coast road trip but there’s a concern that this might be a ‘flat spot’ due to their demanding schedule of late. This is Golden State’s fifth road game in the last eight days and their third in the past four days. The Wizards aren’t an opponent that provides much intrinsic motivation so they could be vulnerable to a letdown spot after a run of strong play. Golden State is 11-14 ATS as a favorite this year and 5-7 ATS against opponents with losing records.
Washington might not exactly be a formidable home team but they are certainly competent. They have a 7-7 SU/6-7-1 ATS record at home and have been a strong investment when getting points this season (11-7 ATS). They’re not much defensively but have scorers like John Wall and Bradley Beal to compete with Golden State’s high octane offense. The Wizards covered against the Warriors at home last season, losing by 4 as +4′ home underdogs. Golden State is certainly the better team but no interest in laying points with the Warriors in what looks to be a tough situational spot. We’d much rather back the hard trying home team who are looking to gain some momentum against a visitor that could be a big sluggish and thinking that victories are ‘in the bag’ due to a soft stretch of opponents coming up. We like the Wizards to shock their Western Conference foes with an outright win.
