NBA Betting Picks: Miami Heat at Chicago Bulls

The Miami Heat will try to take full control of their Eastern Conference playoff series against the Chicago Bulls on Monday as the two teams meet at the United Center. The Bulls shocked the Heat in Game 1 of the series but Miami has won and covered two straight to take a 2-1 lead. A victory here would put Chicago on the verge of elimination as the teams head back to Miami for Game 5. The fact that the Bulls are still playing is somewhat surprising given their many injuries, most significantly to guard Derrick Rose. Rose has supposedly been medically cleared to play but has yet to do so. He’s claiming that ‘God’ will tell him when it’s right to play but it’s becoming apparent that he’s got no interest in playing this season. Chicago will also be without Luol Deng who continues to suffer from ‘flu like symptoms’.

Chicago has been a poor pointspread play at home this season–they’re 26-19 SU but are a money losing 14-31 ATS. That’s especially bad news in this matchup since the Heat has been excellent away from home going 32-12 SU/27-17 ATS. They’ve been especially strong as an away favorite in this price range–as a road favorite of -6.5 to -9 points the Heat are 10-1 SU/9-2 ATS on the year. The Heat have improved as the season progressed and were lethal down the stretch–dating back to the end of the regular season Miami is on a 14-1 SU run going 12-3 against the spread. This year’s MVP, LeBron James, has been on a different level all season long and that has continued into the playoffs.

The Heat caught a wakeup call in the first game of this series and as the old cliche goes they may have caught a loss at the best possible time. It’s hard to see a physically depleted Chicago team that has been playing over their head for the past few weeks able to even this series. Most importantly, it’s hard to see a motivated and frequently dominant Miami team letting this happen. Miami realizes that with the parity out West that dispatching their opponents quickly provides a strong edge in their title defense and they’ll take care of business here.
