NFL Football Betting: Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers
Before the 2016 NFL football season started this looked like a complete mismatch. Arizona won 13 games last year while the San Francisco 49ers were a 5-11 team. Now it has become a very intriguing game with the Cardinals in poor form. More problematically, they’ve already lost two games at home–as many as all of last year. The 49ers are struggling as expected. Arizona opened the year with a tough loss to the New England Patriots which in retrospect certainly isn’t anything to be ashamed of. The followed that up with a 40-7 home field direction of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It looked like everything was back to normal but they’ve lost two games since–on the road to a desperate Buffalo Bills team and at home to the surprising Los Angeles Rams.
San Francisco has lost three straight after opening the season with an impressive 28-0 win over the LA Rams. They’ve not looked particularly competitive in any of the three games since and are coming off a 24-17 loss at home to the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams enter this contest 1-3 SU and ATS. There’s some talk that Colin Kaepernick will get his starting job back with Blaine Gabbert struggling. Most of the sources close to the team suggest that if a move is made it won’t come until next Sunday’s game at Buffalo at the earliest. Arizona actually has the more serious issues at quarterback with Carson Palmer likely out here due to a concussion. Veteran Drew Stanton gets the start and he’ll be pressured to take better care of the football. That’s been a Cardinals’ strength in recent years but they’ve turned the ball over 10 times in the past two games. San Francisco’s defense has played well but has lost arguably their best player, NaVorro Bowman, to an Achilles Tendon injury.
Tough handicap due to the situation. Arizona has been a decent road team in the past few years while San Francisco has been a poor investment at home. Hard to get a read on the mental state of these teams which could be the difference maker. With the Niners getting more than a FG at home we’ll take the price.
