College Football Betting: Florida State at Boston College

Friday Night college football features the ACC opener for both schools as Florida State heads to the Northeast to take on Boston College. Both teams are 2-0 so far this season though against marginal at best competition. Florida State obliterated Texas State in their opening game and followed that up with a win over South Florida that they sleepwalked through. Boston College has played even worse competition, starting their season with a 24-3 win over Maine and a 76-0 demolition of Howard University (who should probably suspend their football program if they’re not even going to try to compete). BC led 62-0 at halftime and did everything possible to avoid scoring in the second half despite playing a team that had quit long before. Howard was held to 11 yards of total offense for the game.
But now both teams step up in class and there’s a lot of enthusiasm for the Eagles in this spot. It definitely makes sense in theory–they’re on their home field, getting a ton of points, playing a hated rival and on national TV. The Seminoles are in serious danger of taking the Eagles lightly which would work even more in the favor of Boston College and particularly from a pointspread perspective. BC is on a 10-5 SU/ATS run at home and on a 9-5 ATS run as an underdog.
Despite all of the situational advantages, we just can’t fade the Seminoles at this point. They still have a brutal amount of talent leftover and are on a 31-1 SU run entering this contest. They’re just 15-15 against the spread but are at their best (from a betting perspective) away from home where they’re on a 9-0 SU/6-3 ATS run. BC just doesn’t have the talent level to hang with Florida State for four quarters and after playing Howard will think they’re in against a NFL team–not much of a stretch given Florida State’s annual incoming crop of NFL level talent. Boston College played FSU tough last year, losing by 3 in Tallahassee and the Eagles have covered 6 of the last 10 meetings despite Florida State going 7-3 SU in those games. Just don’t think FSU lost as much as the public thinks they have. Probably not a blowout, but FSU wins by 10+.
