The final weekend of the season in the American League:
TAMPA BAY RAYS AT CLEVELAND INDIANS:
The Indians are in the classic ‘must win’ go against situation. They’ll be eliminated from the playoffs with their next loss but since they’ll also be eliminated with the A’s next win they don’t control their destiny. Of course since the A’s have lost 7 of 10 and 18 of 15 of 23 and they’re playing the suddenly red hot Texas Rangers (12-1 in their last 13 games) there’s still a chance that Oakland won’t *get* a next win. Cleveland isn’t out of it but we’ll look for them to not win in this ‘must win’ situation.

BALTIMORE ORIOLES AT TORONTO BLUE JAYS:
Toronto hasn’t had a winning season since 2010 but a victory tonight will clinch one this year. The Orioles are always a tough opponent but they’re resting starters tonight which shows what they think of this game.

MINNESOTA TWINS AT DETROIT TIGERS:
Big game for the Tigers tonight. They lead Kansas City by two games with three games to play. If they win tonight and Kansas City loses they clinch the division. If they lose and Kansas City wins they lead by 1 game with two games to go. Here’s thinking the Tigers hold up their end of the bargain. They’ve played well down the stretch winning 15 of 23.

NEW YORK YANKEES AT BOSTON RED SOX:
Here’s my take on this game–this looks like an emotional letdown spot for the Yankees after the Derek Jeter love fest at home yesterday. The Yankees kind of see that coming since they’re ‘resting’ four starters including Jeter.

OAKLAND A’S AT TEXAS RANGERS:
A’s need this win but they’ve got the worst possible matchup facing a Texas team that has been playing with pride and intensity over the past two weeks. Rangers have won 12 of 13 while the A’s have lost 7 of 10. A’s have been in terrible form for the past two months and enter this game on a 3-7 run.
