NFL Betting: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles

The NFC East has been the most disappointing division in football this season and no teams in the division have underachieved more than the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. They’ll go head to head on Sunday in Philadelphia. The Giants finally got their first win of the year last Monday Night as they beat the Minnesota Vikings in a horribly played game. The Eagles began the season with plenty of hope and hoopla under new head coach Rich Kelly but the reality quickly set in that they just don’t have the personnel to run the high octane offensive schemes that made the University of Oregon a powerhouse under his watch. The Eagles are 3-4 on the season and have really struggled on their home field where they’re 0-3 on the season.

Due to injuries to Nick Foles and the ineffective play of #3 quarterback Matt Barkley the Eagles’ quarterback roulette wheel once again lands on the most overrated player in the NFL, Michael Vick. Vick is way past his prime but still trying to rely on his once impressive athleticism. He’s never learn to read defenses and is a horrible decision maker. And it’s good decision making on which the Oregon ‘blur’ offense is predicated. When Vick is in the lineup we’re almost reflexively on the other side and that is the case here.

The Eagles are 0-3 at home but they’ve been a horrible investment there for several seasons now. Philadelphia is a woeful 3-15 ATS at home since 2011 and they’ve also been a very poor favorite going 8-15. For that matter they’re 14-24 ATS overall during that stretch. They’re the ‘perfect storm’ of the public overrating the team and the team underperforming on the field. The Giants are clearly in the down year but they’ve got the far better quarterback in Eli Manning, the more experienced coach and a proud, veteran laden team. The Giants have been a great bet in revenge spots over the past few seasons (8-2 ATS last 10) and they’ll avenge their loss to the Eagles earlier this year and get the outright win. We’re getting a decent amount of points should they fall short.
